The season is already underway. This month some seeds can go straight out in the garden!

March is a busy month, there are so many seeds that can be planted that the question really becomes: do we have enough windowsill space for April’s seeds or do we call it a day after this month and then patiently wait to reap our rewards? This depends on space and targets each gardener has set for their year! I personally tend to over-do it with planting, fill up every tiny space on every windowsill in the house then struggle to keep up with the watering and care demands so cut my losses and let nature “do its thing” when planting outside so at least I get the satisfaction my little friends in the garden don’t go hungry!!!
There’s four separate categories this month:
- Vegetables indoors
- Vegetables outdoors
- Flowers indoors
- Flowers outdoors
As always, each to their own, please feel free to plant what you want or can!
Indoors Vegetables
I have sneaked in some sunflowers around the windowsills this year so I’ll try to be modest with March’s indoors planting:
- Sweet Peppers
- Lettuce (Mixed Salad Leaves)
- Lettuce (Butterhead)
- Mint (can wait to plant outside in April but I’ve never succeeded planting it outside so I’ll go for indoor this year again)
Indoors Flowers
- Cosmos (Sensation Dazzler Crimson Red)
- Aquilegia (McKana Hybrids)
Outdoors Vegetables
- Courgette (Zucchini)
- Endives (Mediterranean bitter leaves – great in sandwiches or boiled with olive oil and lemon)
- Rocket (Voyager)
- Pea (Early Kelvendon Wonder)
- Lettuce (Mesclun Mixed)
- Beetroot F1
- Chives (Beautiful purple flowers!)
- Carrots
- Rocket (Fireworks)
- Radish
