Winter or summer there is definitely nothing simpler to grow than some radish!
There is nothing more straightforward and simple than growing this magic root vegetable! Simply follow the below steps:
- Take a plastic container, preferrably recycle a strawberry container as it already has a decent shape, size and a plethora of holes for irrigation at the bottom so it fits well with a recycled meat container for tray to water frequently
- Fill it with some quality compost, ideally one with a fair amount of peat as it’ll be inside the house this time of the year so humidity must be maintained in the soil
- Take a tea spoon and open “trenches” in two rows across as per image below
- Drop radish seeds every few cm – I tend to add about 6 per row
- Cover from the sides to keep the seeds moist and level the soil
- Water well the soil then drain the excess
- Once sprouting, it’s extremely important to water well – radish is predominantly consisted of water so it needs to be “drowning” in water at most times

Important note: do not leave unwatered for more than 2-3 days or they will start cracking from dehydration, meaning they'll lose their tender crunchy peppery texture and flavour and turn woody and chewy!
